KUCHING, 24 October 2025 – The Kuching Waterfront once again became the center of attention as Sarawak Regatta – Borneo Cultural Night 2025 unfolded in a vibrant celebration of color, music, and cultural unity. The event, one of the highlights in the Sarawak Regatta calendar, showcased the rich artistic heritage of three brotherly nations — Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei Darussalam.
The opening ceremony was officiated by The Honourable Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Sheikh Abdul Mahdani bin Dato Paduka Sheikh Haji Abdul Gani, Consul General of Brunei Darussalam in Kuching, and Mr. R. Sigit Witjaksono, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching.
The evening was enlivened by captivating performances from various cultural troupes. The Indonesian Cultural Troupe and the Brunei Darussalam Cultural Troupe, each comprising 20 members, mesmerized the audience with traditional dances and music that reflected the richness of the Nusantara heritage.
Malaysia’s showcase featured performances representing the major ethnic groups of Sarawak — Iban, Bidayuh, Malay, Chinese, Kedayan, Melanau, and Orang Ulu. Local performers delivered a stunning array of traditional dances and musical numbers, depicting the harmony and beauty of Sarawak’s multicultural society. The night came alive with the brilliance of colorful costumes, rhythmic traditional music, and the spirit of unity radiating from the stage.
Beyond a mere cultural showcase, the program served as a platform for cultural exchange among neighboring nations in the Borneo region, strengthening regional friendship and cooperation through the universal language of arts and culture. The large turnout of spectators reflected the warm public response toward this celebration of diversity and togetherness.
Borneo Cultural Night 2025 concluded on a high note — uniting the rhythm, colors, and spirit of Borneo on one magnificent cultural stage.
